Miami’s Black history is largely a result of the Afro-Caribbean Diaspora. Its many neighborhoods are the homes of people from the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and many other Caribbean countries. The following collages illustrate how these countries have influenced the Architecture of South Florida and the activities that occur in traditional Black spaces within the home.
